This pre-fall, Alémais and artist Michael Swaney invite you into the spirited realm of Players, an amalgamation of mischief, musing and metaphor.

We connected with Mike over our mutual love of watching people at play all over the world. An eclectic mix gathered at a table disconnected from the busyness of life and connected into a playful universe.

The games we play keep us connected to ourselves and others. There is a universal language of ‘PLAY’ it’s something we all understand. When we play together, we stay together. It increases our sense of awareness by keeping us on our toes, sparking joy speaking to the exuberant child within us all.

So, without further ado, let the games begin!

A multidisciplinary artist who shifts seamlessly and ambidextrously between such mediums of painting, collage, ceramics and video, the visual world of Canadian-born, Barcelona-based Michael Swaney burns rich and brightly with childlike curiosity, showcasing a pertinacious spirit for adventure.

Fusing colour, form and texture into his exuberant and playful paintings, Swaney pivots freely from the physical world around him to his childhood memories and subconscious in order to capture the graphic compositions and geometric forms that populate his creative universe. His work has been exhibited throughout Europe, Scandinavia and North America.
